More and more people looking for affordable housing in regional cities!

A recent study from The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has documented regional population growth data for 2016-17. Considering the amount of First Home Buyers and Investors looking to purchase prime real estate in more affordable areas, this data gives us great insight into the growth areas around Australia, and shows a trend towards affordable housing in regional cities.

In a recent article that followed, Cameron Kusher discusses the migration of people away from capital cities, and to locations such as Latrobe-Gippsland and Geelong in Victoria, and Newcastle/Lake Macquarie and Illawarra in NSW. Some key cities noted in the article are below.

The data shows that a significant number of First Home Buyers or Investors that moved away from a Capital City over the past financial year, have chosen an area adjacent to the capital city particularly with a coastal or lifestyle focus with people looking for  a seachange or treechange.
